So I’ve been to the two poorest nations in the western world (Nicaragua & Haiti). And I’m not saying this to get missionary cool points or anything. But because I have a point to make about how God feels about these places.
Before going to Haiti people told me that when you fly over Haiti it looks desolate and sad, in comparison to the other side of the island that happens to be Dominican Republic which is lush and green.
Before going to Nicaragua I heard horror stories of people being robbed, getting sick from the water and just the tough conditions.
I’ve never been more blown away by the difference in my expectations and my experiences; than my time spent in these two nations.
And yes they may be poor, but in both places I could see God’s heart for the people. That when they had no food, no money, no hope He wanted to meet them where they were! AND wanted to expose the lie that these nations aren’t blessed, or aren’t beautiful.
I love being able to see these beautiful places as they were meant to be seen.
